The "Scent Layering" Hack

How to Make Your Fragrance Last All Day.

We have all bought expensive perfumes or colognes that seem to vanish by lunchtime. The problem usually isn’t the perfume; it’s your skin. Fragrance has a hard time holding onto dry skin—it evaporates into the air almost immediately.

If you want your scent to last from your morning commute until dinner, you need a primer. This is where body butter becomes your secret weapon.

The Art of Layering.

Oils hold scent much better than dry skin does. By applying a layer of body butter first, you create a hydrated base for your fragrance to cling to.

“Think of your body butter as the primer and your cologne as the paint. You need a good base for the top coat to stick.”

How to Do It.

Apply your body butter on your pulse points—wrists, neck, and behind the ears. Let it settle for a minute, then spray your fragrance right on top of those moisturized spots. The oils in the butter will trap the scent molecules, releasing them slowly throughout the day. You’ll be smelling fresh long after everyone else has faded.
